Why learn to fly? How about to give yourself the world’s best view? And that’s just for starters. Personal aviation can be your very own time machine, taking you places in much less time—and with far fewer headaches—than other modes of transportation. For some pilots, it’s more about the fun than the practicality. Flying is one of the most challenging activities you’ll ever experience, and that’s what makes it so rewarding.
As you can see from the range map to the left, even in a Piper Cherokee, from Wood County Airport you can get pretty far in just three hours. Imagine the possibilities of adventure and things to do for you and your family.
Eagle Air Flying Club is just that, a flying club, we are not a flight training school by any means. As a small group of pilots we share the expenses of aircraft ownership, this makes it more affordable for all to enjoy the thrill and adventure of flying. If you are currently a student pilot or someone looking to learn how to fly, we can help you find an instructor to work with you. We have several instructors that are current members of the flying club as well as several instructors in the local area willing to take on additional students.
As a member of Eagle Air Flying Club you will have access to two well equiped IFR certified aircraft, as well as licensed pilots of all experience levels to talk to and mentor with. Our monthly meetings are a great time to talk to others about any concerns, issues, or bumps in the road you are trying to get past in your training. As a new student it is not unusual to get to a point in your training where you struggle to grasp the concept you are currently trying to learn. Many times it helps to discuss this with another pilot or student and usually they will say something or explain it in a different way and it will suddenly "click" with you, then you move to the next level of your training.
All the members at Eagle Air Flying Club would agree as a student you should do as much research as you can and find as many resources as possible to assist you in your training. We have assembled some links to resources we feel are beneficial to new students but is not by any means a comprehensive list. Talk to as many people as you can, pilots in general are naturally very friendly, it is a small community of people and we love to talk about our love of flying. Stop by Wood County Airport or any airport that is close to you, go into the General Aviation terminal and just start asking questions, it is not unusual to find several pilots sitting around talking especially on the weekends.
